IPSF GIVES LARGEST GRANT IN FOUNDATION HISTORY TO CULVERDALE ELEMENTARY
What began as an Innovative Teaching Award Program (ITAP) grant, has grown to become the largest single grant awarded in our 20 year history! On September 16, IPSF presented Culverdale Elementary with a check for $211,850 to fund their newly announced Innovation Lab.

Funding for this project will provide significantly needed resources to the school, and build efforts to increase students' access to 21st Century tools. Utilizing virtual reality computers, flexible learning spaces, multiple platforms of technology, and robotics, the lab is designed to ignite students' curiosity and promote hands on learning. The space also creates a safe environment for students to experience intellectual risk-taking and the ability to learn from trial and error. The lab is expected to open in January 2017.

We would like to thank our partners at The Hoag Foundation for their support and generous contribution to this grant. IPSF hopes this project will serve as a model for other schools in the community and be replicated with additional support from corporate partners.
CUBESAT PASSES GAMMA-RAY TEST
On September 24, Irvine CubeSat STEM Program teams visited the UCI Nuclear Reactor Facility to complete the next milestone on their journey to send their nanosatellite for space. The test exposed the cubesat's electrical components to gamma-rays to simulate the conditions the unit will experience in low earth orbit.

We are thrilled to share that they passed with a 100% score on the very first attempt! Congratulations to the IRVINE01 team for their hard work and dedication to getting Irvine to space!

GALA SPONSORS
On October 22, IPSF will host the 7th Annual Spirit of Excellence Gala & Auction at Kia Motors Headquarters. This sold out event will bring the community together to honor distinguished alumni of the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) and raise funds for Irvine classrooms.

We would like to specially thank Gorjana, Kitchell, DCI Engineers, Shea Homes, and Cox Communications for their sponsorship of this year's event. Click below to view full list of our 2016 sponsors.

IPSF ENRICHMENT DAY
Save the date! IPSF's Enrichment Day will be held over the Veteran's Day Holiday on Friday, November 11. IUSD Students in grades 2-8 are invited to come and enjoy a fun-filled day of engaging and exciting classes in subjects including Minecraft, cooking, dissection, science, art, and much more.

This year's Enrichment Day will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the IUSD Westwood Training Center. Registration opens Tuesday, October 11 on  www.ipsfacademy.org/ee

Despite low funding, Irvine is the highest performing district in the state again this year. How is this possible? Our community, parents, IPSF, IUSD, and corporate supporters work in partnership to provide vital funds to ensure the success of our students in every area.

Each partner works together to help bridge the funding gap. While Measure E funds are dedicated to providing much needed facility updates at aging schools sites, the Irvine Company's renewed commitment to IUSD will provide $2 million annually to help fund music, arts, and science in grades 4-6. PTA raises funds to support individual school sites, and the City of Irvine matches donations to IPSF to double the impact of district-wide programs.

This year, IPSF's Annual Campaign will focus of raising funds for the people and programs that make a lasting impact on students' lives including: instructional assistants, music for grades TK-3, instrumental music assistants for grades 4-6, high school athletic trainers, and additional enrichment programs not funded by other sources.

We hope you will do your part to help keep Irvine schools strong by supporting the IPSF Annual Campaign launching on October 18. When we work together, we can make a difference!
