Wedding season is Upon Us...
It's that time of year again, the flowers are blooming and love is in the air, meaning weddings are going on everywhere!
Like previous years, there are always one or two more prevalent trends to be seen and 2017 is no different.
Today’s couples want a wedding that will blow their guests away,
and one of the key elements to an unforgettable event is the cake choice. With Trends becoming bigger and badder than ever before, some are completely over the top, while others are just perfect for adding your own personal touches to the celebration.
There has been a myriad of themes presented to us this year. To help you out we have included some of the more popular trends we have been seeing which include: Naked or barely frosted cakes, metallic tones/accents, wooden glam/ bohemian flare, floral with lots of greenery, clean & minimalist, monochromatic, and subtle yet elegant designs.
Metallic cakes
Gold, Silver and Metallic cakes are totally in right now! Touches of these shades on the cake's surface or in the cake's details can be seen on cake tables everywhere.
Bohemian or Woodland-themed cake
These cakes are accessorized with herbs, small bits of greenery and vines.
As greenery is Pantone’s colour for 2017, it makes sense that greenery and botanical cakes are hot news in the wedding cake world in 2017. This style is also very pretty for a country wedding, adding fruit as well as flowers to a cake gives it such a lovely, rustic feel.
Monochromatic or White-on-White cakes
All decked out in white, these cakes are usually traditional, clean and classy using different textures as the focal point.
Translucent or Barely Naked cakes
Almost Bearing it all—Translucent cakes are covered with a thin layer or icing, and just a bit of cake showing. They are usually topped with flowers or fruits. These cakes are very modern and great for a non-traditional ceremony as well.
Ruffled cakes
Produce either A light and airy look, or a heavier fuller look. Decorating with large or small modern ruffles around the cake
Marbled Cakes
These cakes look contemporary and glamorous while allowing you to add a pop of color or Metallic's tones at the same time
Subtle Sparkle
Rather than having a "blinging" wedding cake, subtle sparkle and shimmer is in for 2017
Floral Cakes
Cakes covered with Flowers, either cascading or all over is another popular trend. This is also another way to incorporate the greenery trend.
