OFFICIALS FROM PORT OF DAKAR, SENEGAL, VISIT MIAMI

Dr. Cheikh Kante, director of the Port of Dakar, Senegal, led a high-level delegation of Senegalese dignitaries to Miami recently to explore closer collaboration with Miami-Dade County and PortMiami. Dr. Kante’s visit was a direct result of the African Businesses Development Mission led by Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson in May 2017, which visited Cape Town, South Africa; Dakar, Senegal; Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; Conakry, Guinea; and Lagos, Nigeria. The purpose of that mission, which was organized by OEDIT with the support of Enterprise Florida, PortMiami, Miami International Airport and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, was to foster trade, tourism and commercial linkages between Miami-Dade County and the African continent.

Miami-Dade County is engaged in Sister City Program with the cities of Cape Town and Dakar. Also, PortMiami has Sister Seaport agreements with the Port of Cape Town, Port Autonome de Dakar, Port Autonome d’Abidjan, Port Autonome de Conakry and the Nigerian Ports Authority.
