2014 InvestMidWest Application Deadline Approaching

Happy Holidays!

The staff at ITEN want to wish you all the best as the year winds down and you spend time with family and friends.  However, before you drink too much egg nog and eat too many cookies we want to remind you the ITEN January 2nd Thursday will be January the 9th.  The topic will be on all those New Year's resolutions you made to be better catalysts for the tech startups.  Just kidding(kind of).  The topic of the 2nd Thursday will be: ITEN Initiatives for 2014.

While we feel that 2013 was a stellar year in the St. Louis start up community we know that 2014 will be even more exciting and productive.

Cheers!

 Featured Company: DIMS

St. Louis, MO:  (DIMS) Dead Inventory Management System's first online marketplace, Manufacturers' Inventory, is proud to announce they have reached their 30th Seller on the site. DIMS was founded in 2011 with the same concept of reselling idle electrical component level inventory online with a proprietary handheld scanner. 2013 has proven to be a big year of changes for this company.  Starting off the year with a new partnership group, the company began developing its cloud-based system of generating product descriptions at a rate of 5,000 parts per hour.  They were able to build out the Manufacturers' Inventory (MI) marketplace with the seed funding granted through the Capital Innovators program. They have grown their customer base, hired their first set of employees, and had their first sales with the new marketplace. The online marketplace and its features are fully functional, with over 3,000 products on the site, valued upwards of $1.8M, with customers ranging from California, to Montreal, Canada; consisting of primarily Electrical Distributors, and Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Their innovative way of dealing with excess inventory has helped them reach an early agreement with a MRO Supply management company; they manage over 200 plants around the world and will use MI's services to help alleviate some of the estimated $200M worth of dead inventory from some of their customers.  MI has signed on their first two Manufacturers' Representative organizations, covering four states, to help bring more customers to the site. As 2013 draws to a close and the manufacturing industry is tallying their inventory for year-end reports, they are expecting many more sellers to join the site at the start of the year.

Beginning in early 2014, DIMS will replicate the MI model to launch their second online marketplace to serve the commercial lighting industry. They have already signed on multiple companies to use the site, who have excess inventory valued at over $1.2M. The marketplace will consist primarily of commercial fixtures, ballasts, and other various components.

DIMS continues to develop new technological advances and features to add to their marketplaces, including integration with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to allow for real time updates of quantities and automatic order entry. DIMS is currently raising funding and always looking for resources and interested parties help.

About Dead Inventory Management System: they are a start-up company based out of St. Louis, MO. They have developed technology to quickly list, market, and sell large quantities of inventory online. Their first marketplace, Manufacturers' Inventory is targeted to the industrial manufacturing industry. www.deadinventorymanagement.com  or www.manufacturersinventory.com
