IUTC HOSTED 2011 IU DANCE MARATHON
The IU Tennis Center proudly hosted this year's IU Dance Marathon event November 4-6, 2011. We were honored to be part of such a touching event.
IUDM is the nation's 2nd largest student-run philanthropic organization! IUDM works year round to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, culminating the year in a 36 hour dance marathon. Since 1991, IUDM has raised more than $10.1 million for the kids at Riley. This year, they raised $1.8 MILLION!  For more information about the IU Dance Marathon, visit their website.

JUNIOR FALL RESULTS
Bloomington juniors had great results again this Fall. Click here for a recap of all of the juniors who have reached the finals or won their respective division in USTA tournaments throughout the state.

ADULT FALL RESULTS
Mixed Doubles Championships
The annual mixed doubles championships were October 15th. Ten teams participated in the "A" and "B" divisions in what turned out to be one of the closest tournaments ever. Thank you to everyone who participated. "A" division winners: Rick Johnston and Sunny Slater "B" division winners: Katie Weismiller and Dan PiekarskyTurkey Time Tournament This year's Turkey Time Tournament featured a record 32 players! As always, much fun was had by everyone involved. The IUTC is now exploring more of this type of event due to its popularity. Stay tuned!

TRAVEL TEAM UPDATE
The ladies travel team season is well underway. The IU Tennis Center is home to 5 teams playing at three different levels. The levels represent the NTRP rating of the players on the team. A player may not play above the rating they have earned. Below the team scores is an example of the levels.

STAFF NEWS
SAM KERCHEVAL UPGRADES USPTA STATUS
We are happy to announce that Sam Kercheval, Staff Professional has been promoted to Assistant Professional after successfully achieving the USPTA Professional 1 category. To achieve this level of certification, Sam scored at the 90th percentile in all areas of the certification exam. Congratulations Sam!!!
WELCOME NEW INSTRUCTOR, RACHEL ALLEN
Please welcome Rachel Allen, a freshman at Indiana University, originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. Besides competing in the state, Midwest and National level in USTA Tournaments, she has also had a successful high school career, competing in the number one singles position all four years. She had four consecutive state appearances, along with three top eight finishes. Rachel has been teaching tennis for the last two years. This past summer she was the Head Pro at her local country club. She has taught all ages ranging from three years old to 50 and over at all skill levels. Rachel loves to teach tennis and is excited to be a part of the IU Tennis Instructional Staff. Welcome aboard, Rachel!
CHRIS CHOPRA SELECTED TO SERVE ON USPTA EXECUTIVE BOARD
Chris Chopra was selected to serve as an Executive Board Member for the USPTA Midwest Division from 2012-2014. He will help lead the division along with four other Board Members.
CHRIS CHOPRA COMPLETES HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHES CERTIFICATION
Chris Chopra completed the USTA High Performance Coaches Certification. He attended the certification in Memphis, TN October 19-22. He joins an elite group of approximately 800 coaches nationally that hold this level of certification. Congrats, Chris!

BALL MACHINE PASSES
A ball machine pass entitles members to unlimited ball machine usage for an entire year! This is an incredible deal and a perfect way to keep up your game. Single user passes are $150. We now offer a Household Ball Machine Pass, good for 1 year of unlimited usage for guardian(s) and children under 18 within your household. The cost is $300. See Control Center for more information.
TRAVEL TEAM AND VARSITY MATCHES
Come support our Ladies Travel and Varsity teams during their home matches at the IUTC. Free admission. See calendar on our Web site for schedule.
FREE BALL MACHINE RENTAL
Use the ball machine at no cost by scheduling a 30 minute reservation in between two already scheduled programs/reservations. Regular court fees apply. Perfect opportunity for a practice session on a particular shot.
PRIVATE, SEMI-PRIVATE, & GROUP LESSONS
Interested in private, semi-private, or group lessons? Leave your information for the Head Pro and we will try our best to set you up with one of our instructors. Be aware that we do have a small waiting list. |
All private, semi-private and group lessons must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. All informal court reservations must be canceled at least 3 hours in advance to avoid being charged. PCT must be canceled 24 hours in advance in order to bank your time.
