NEW IBERIA, La. --- The Iberia Cultural Resources Association and Iberia Bank will hold Symphony Sunday in the Park in New Iberia's City Park on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m.
This free concert features the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. The theme this year is "Dance, Dance, Dance." A new feature of this year's concert because of the theme will be four dance numbers that will be performed along with the symphony on a dance floor in front of the stage. Click here for the program.
As last year, there will be an instrument petting zoo at intermission and a competition for the best picnic theme judging at 2:45 p.m.
"We encourage groups to come out before the concert and bring their picnic foods and decorations to identify their group with a specific theme," said Cathy Indest, president of the Iberia Cultural Resources Association. "We are also encouraging every group to take a picture of their group before judging for this picnic competition takes place at 2:45p.m."
One of the picnic competition prizes will be a gift certificate for up to 10 people to attend a class at Muscle and Bustle. Another prize includes well known artist Paul Schexnayder doing a painting of the winning group and making prints of the painting for everyone in the group.
There will be a food truck with hamburgers and the recreation department will sell drinks. Starting at 1 p.m., golf carts will be available at the park's entrance. KANE Radio (AM 1240) will broadcast the concert.
