The Parks & Recreation Division is Seeking Public Input on a Potential Flagpole Project at Thunderbird Conservation Park

Here is a message from Jeff Turney, Chair of the Military & Veterans Affairs Committee

"Happy New Year everyone!!!
We need everyone's support on this project. Please let our Parks and Recreation commission know your thoughts on replacing the present temporary flag and staff with a permanent flag and solar lit pole on top of the mountain at Thunderbird Park.
It takes all of us working TOGETHER to keep America strong. 🇺🇸 This project is extremely important to those who came before us and to those that will follow us!!! It shows our citizens, our State, our country and the world that Glendale values what our flag represents and its patriotic value!!! 🇺🇸 This flag will be a symbol of pride for our city to admire for years to come. I am honored to be able to spearhead the project for all of us. "

Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life
Since 2009, suicides among youths has increased 81%. One critical factor is the stigma associated with asking for help. On January 16, 2018, students, police chiefs, government officials, parents and teachers will get together to tackle ongoing issues involving bullying, depression, drug addiction and other ongoing issues facing our youth.  Together we can inspire everyone to Speak Up, Stand Up, and help Save a Life!  Help us reach our goal of 5,000 conference attendees in 2018!

Support our youth by attending the Stand Up, Speak, Up, Save a Life Youth Conference organized by  Lily DeBlieux  and learn about the struggles our youth face today. Your small contribution can make a big difference!  #CareEnough

My Majik Mind
By Veronica Lieb Crawford and Frank Vasquez
Announcing the release of a new creative book for children, helping them to discover their imaginations and put down their devices.

For a child to realize their potential they should imagine their world around them. They must dream and create, they must be allowed to see their world in their own vision. In this book, My Majik Mind you are taken down the path with a young child doing just this, using creativity to create alternative places and images of things when he does not necessary want to be doing what he has to do! Instead of escaping to a device, he escapes to his own imagination creating wonderful ideas to make his adventures more enjoyable!

Your child will be encouraged to take up inventing his own imagination, creating dreams, drawing his thoughts, perhaps writing ideas. Maybe he or she will even one day want to do what we did and write his or her own children’s book!

Part of your proceeds will be set up in an account for Frank Vasquez college fund.

This book is dedicated to all the young children who would like to find ways to use their minds to guide them into doing creative play, and work. This will one day make you a very unique and inspirational person!

This is also dedicated to my creative partner in the making of this book, Frank Vasquez, who through his Majik Mind he captured images of this story with his characters bringing this book to life!

To all the young people who have touched my life inspiring me to write this book helping me see the need to show you that despite any obstacle you might have in front of you, disability, difference, trauma, loss, you can use your Majik Mind to escape and create! But never give up on you and use it to better your life, never ever destroy it, it is yours to build and explore into great possibilities!

And finally, to my husband Rob and my kids who have inspired me forever without them all I would not have the ability to come up with so much silliness!
