I am stunned by the tragic news of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight, which disappeared over Ukraine today. As an imam with friends around the world, especially in Malaysia, I ask that we pray together that God, in this blessed month of Ramadan, may forgive their souls and admit them into His Paradise, as the Prophet Muhammad taught us, is what happens to victims of such tragic accidents. I also ask we pray that God bless the families and loved ones of those killed in this incident with His grace and peace, and that we all embrace them with tenderness as our reflection of God's infinite compassion.
