Thursday, October 19 at 7 pm, ILGL is hosting a public training on "How to Respond to Homelessness"

Everyone is invited. Please spread the word and plan to attend this important event. I attended a similar training in April, and it was really good. I cannot express how helpful and eye-opening it was, even as someone who has been involved in this work for a few years. The flier is attached. PLEASE be sure to share the flier with your communities, post it, and invite others to attend.
Saturday, November 11 at 6 pm will be an Interfaith Potluck and
Hygiene Kit Packing Event

All are invited. This is a chance to work together across faiths to serve our community. We are asking ILGL members to collect items for the kits from Oct. 1 to Nov. 4. Our steering team will provide boxes and will collect the items before the event. The kits will be delivered to Lafayette Transitional Housing. This is a great project for small groups, Sunday School classes (even the kids classes!), etc. to do. Then, they can come together for dinner on Nov. 11.   For hygiene kits specifically (items requested by LTHC). Please note that hygiene items must be small/travel size NOT regular-size bottles. This will allow clients to easily put the hygiene packet in their backpack and take into the shower area at LTHC:
Feet and hand warmers
Deodorant (travel size - 3 ounces)
Body wash (travel size - 3 ounces)
Shampoo (travel size - 3 ounces)
Hand sanitizer (travel size - 3 ounces)
Toothpaste (travel size - 3 ounces)
Shaving razors (Robin from LTHC says she usually purchases a 10-pack from the Dollar Store)
Winter-related outerwear items:
Gently-used or new socks
Gently used or new winter gloves
Gently used or new winter hats
Gently used or new winter scarves
Miscellaneous items we can choose to collect:
Bus tokens
Gift cards (such as to Walmart, Target, Meijer)
Ladies Fellowship Clothing Program
Elementary Schools K-4th Grade
Needed item include Hats, Gloves, Sweat Pants, Underware, and socks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Last year we were able to help 4 local schools. Contact Ellen House or Jean Sharp for any questions you might have.
A box for donations is located on the lower level of the church next to the Alpha- Omega Room.
