Dear Participating Contractors,

Thank you for the great work you do to improve the efficiency, comfort, and safety of homes in the County of Los Angeles with the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) Energy Upgrade California® Home Upgrade program. Due to your efforts in the program, the SoCalREN has been able to assist nearly 2,000 homeowners in saving enough energy to power 180 homes for a year!

The SoCalREN’s mission is to achieve unprecedented levels of energy savings throughout Southern California while providing innovative solutions to meet market needs. The programs and services offered by the SoCalREN work together to meet energy savings and California’s long-term energy efficiency strategic goals, including reaching underserved and hard-to-reach customers.

To ensure that the SoCalREN achieves these goals while making the best use of ratepayer funds, SoCalREN residential resources will be refocused on the Multifamily program, which has achieved great energy savings (over 7.5 million kWh savings in 2017). With nearly 1.4 million units in eligible 3+ unit multifamily properties in Los Angeles County, there is great opportunity in this market. We encourage all Participating Contractors who also do work in the Multifamily sector to partner with a Participating Rater to assess and install projects in the Multifamily program in 2018 and beyond.

Due to this shift, the SoCalREN Home Upgrade program will close earlier than previously anticipated. Please see below for important submittal deadlines; be sure to submit your SoCalREN Home Upgrade project reservations and completed project information on time to ensure your customers’ eligible projects receive incentives.

Important Dates for the SoCalREN Home Upgrade Program

  • July 27, 2018 (Friday) is the last day to create projects in the Contractor Portal. To avoid any delays in the reservation approval process, please be sure to upload a recent copy of the Southern California Edison (SCE) and SoCalGas® utility bills (making sure the service account number, service account name, and service account address are visible) along with the completed and signed Homeowner Terms and Conditions document. Remember: the SCE Service Account Number is a 10-digit number that begins with a 3.

  • August 30, 2018 (Thursday) is the last day to submit the Project Completion Form and ALL required close-out documentation to the Contractor Portal. This includes the test-out documentation and proof of closed HVAC permits (if air conditioner and/or furnace measures are claimed). The Project Completion Form Checklist is a handy document that can help make sure you have all the information and documentation you’ll need to submit the Project Completion Form.

  • Any issues found during inspection or review must be corrected and submitted by September 10, 2018. No exceptions can be granted.

Reminder: Standalone Rebates and Advanced Home Upgrade Still Available

S CE and SoCalGas, as well as local municipal utilities, offer standalone rebates for various measures. In addition, the Advanced Home Upgrade Program is available to customers served by SCE and SoCalGas or SoCalGas and a municipal electric utility. Please consider submitting applicable measures through a utility program if you would like to offer your new customers rebates and incentives.
