Dear Burlington Township Families,
The National Weather Service has issued a winter
weather advisory for our area that is in effect from 1 PM to 9 PM on Monday, January 8, 2018. According to the advisory, a wintry mix of precipitation is expected with periods of light freezing rain, ice, sleet and snow with possible accumulation. Please be aware that
ALL
after school and evening activities are cancelled for Monday, January 8, 2018.
We will continue to monitor the weather overnight and in the early morning hours. Ice accumulation could pose a serious problem for our afternoon dismissal. These conditions can become worse as darkness falls.
Due to our tiered busing system, we would be unable to keep the High School and Middle School on a full day schedule and dismiss elementary schools only on an early closing schedule. An early closing decision would impact
all four
schools.
The final determination regarding an early closing schedule will be made tomorrow morning by 7:00 A.M. and communicated shortly thereafter. It is our hope that this notification will provide families with the information and time necessary to make proper child care arrangements, should the need arise.
As of this evening, PrimeTime is prepared to operate as they normally would on a district early dismissal schedule should an emergency early closing be declared. If the inclement weather continues, PrimeTime may decide to close their program early and will contact parents accordingly.
We will utilize our normal methods of communication: email, phone, website and television stations to inform everyone only if we are declaring an early closing. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to make the best decision for the safety of everyone in our school community.
