I am writing today to say "thank you."  You have been a good friend to the ministry of The Pittsburgh Project.  You have invested your resources in order to ensure that:

  • Vulnerable seniors have a decent place to live where they feel valued and where their dignity is upheld
  • Urban children and youth have caring adults and a safe place in which to grow and discover their identity, gifts and purpose
  • Visiting youth groups are deployed for meaningful service that models a faith that is alive through works

And, as result, we ended the last two years in the black and since our inception we have been able to repair more than 1,800 homes, mentor more than 1,700 children, and deploy over 35,000 youth in volunteer service.  God and His people have provided generously and walked with us through exhilarating heights and daunting challenges.

I am also writing today to inform you that our Executive Director, Derrick Weston, has submitted his resignation in order to tend to personal and family matters.  While we are disappointed by his short tenure with us, we trust him and his family to God's care.

I am pleased to share with you that Will Thompkins, who is a member of our Board of Directors, a former Director of Community Outreach at The Project, and a seasoned non-profit leader with an impressive resume, has agreed to come out of retirement and serve as our Interim Executive Director while our Board conducts a search for the right person for leadership.  I assure you that the ministry of The Project will be led by a very steady and faithful hand during this interim period.

Please hold Will, the rest of the staff, our Board, and our community in prayer.  The last couple of years have been quite challenging, but God's grace has more that sustained us, energized us, and positioned us to do even greater things than we knew possible.

We welcome your prayers, concerns and input. May God always get the glory, and His people always be blessed as a result of the work that you make possible through your support.

Sincerely yours,
