Dear Upper School families,

We are rapidly approaching the end of Term 1, and we wanted to highlight what the schedule looks like for the week of November 14-18 for our  end-of-term assessments . ( Download PDF, image below. ) To address the needs of students and teachers, we have different start times and dismissal times.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGES: NOVEMBER 14-NOVEMBER 18
  • Monday, November 14-Friday, November 18: Classes on Monday and Tuesday begin at 9:05 a.m. and assessment blocks on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday begin at 9 a.m.; the dining room will be open beginning at 7 a.m.; lunch is available for students.

  • Wednesday, November 16: students who do not have a G-Block assessment are allowed to leave campus at 11 a.m. Students with a G-Block Assessment may leave at 3:15 p.m. No afternoon activities due to the Genius Unleashed Event!
  • Friday, November 18: students may leave campus at 11 a.m. after completing their last assessment of the week. If a student needs to take a make-up assessment, we have time allotted for that in the afternoon.
END-OF-TERM ASSESSMENTS
End-of-term assessments are designed to provide students with important feedback on their performance and level of understanding, offering students the opportunity to perform meaningful, worthy tasks to demonstrate knowledge transfer and application. These assessments can happen in a variety of forms: presentations, papers, tests, design challenges. Teachers will provide students will all the necessary information about their specific assessments (expectations, requirements, rubrics).

Next week, in preparation for end-of-term assessments, advisors will be working with their advisees to support their time and stress management. As always, please feel free to connect with your child's advisor.

POWERLEARNING
Between Friday, November 4 and Tuesday, November 8, teachers will publish current estimated grades on PowerLearning. Although not the only way to get feedback, checking PowerLearning is a good tool to see your kids' progress, especially prior to end-of-term assessments.
