Graduation announcements
Congratulations to the DVC students that will be graduating! We are looking forward to seeing you and celebrating you during our commencement ceremony!

This year's ceremony will be held on Friday, May 26 at 5:00 pm in Viking Stadium (weather permitting).

Cap and gown packages may be available for purchase in the DVC Book Center during this period.

Fresh flowers and leis will be available for purchase from
Gameday Souvenirs, Inc. on the day of graduation.
 
GradImages 
Professional photographs of graduates will be taken during the ceremony and available for purchase at www.gradimages.com.

ASDVC announcements
ASDVC and the Classified Senate will be hosting refreshments during finals week. Coffee and snacks will be offered in the lobby of the Student Union on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week.
 
ASDVC and the Classified Senate will also be giving away scantrons, bluebooks, and pencils. Volunteers will be handing out supplies around campus prior to each finals time slot. For f inals occurring after 3:00 pm, students can go to the library to pick up free materials. San Ramon will also be participating in this activity.

SRC TRANSFERmation Celebration
Are you transferring? Please join us on Tuesday, May 16, 1:00 - 3:00pm, in the Learning Commons to celebrate your success! Meet graduates, make connections and hear from former students. Pizza and cake will be served.

Financial aid  announcements

DVC's Financial Aid Office will be open the following hours during the summer (May 30 - July 28):

Monday - Wednesday
Office hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Drop-in hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm

Thursday
Office hours: 8:30am - 1:00pm
Drop-in hours: 8:30am - 12:30pm

Book buy back
End of term book buy back. Bring your books to the windows 
at the rear of the DVC Bookstore (near the Math Building).

Book buy back dates and times: 
May  22 - May 25, 9 am - 7 pm
May 26, 9 am - 3 pm

Return rental deadline
The last day to return rental books and avoid penalties is May 30, 3:00 pm.

Tutors wanted for summer 2017
The Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound programs are seeking paid and volunteer tutors to work with middle and high school students at DVC during the summer, June 12 - July 20

We are seeking tutors who have experience working with students in an academic setting, or who have completed a tutor training course/program. Hourly rate for tutors is $10.50 or $13.35. 

Tutors are needed for math on  Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 - 10:30 am and 10:30 am-12:30 pm. English tutors are needed on  Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 - 10:30 am and 10:30 am - 12:30 pm.  Contact  Jackie Jones-Castellano at  jjonesca@dvc.edu  for more information.
DVC's online job board
DVC Career Services uses College Central Network for all online job, internship and volunteer opportunities. Check out this interactive tool that connects local employers with prospective job and internship candidates. Opportunities are from local employers who are looking for DVC students. They understand that you may not be looking for full-time employment and are usually still in pursuit of your educational goals.


DVC's Assessment Center is open
Knowing your appropriate placement in math and English or ESL will help you register for the classes that will be right for you. Assessments are offered on a regular basis, and appointments can be made online or in the Assessment Center.

Follow the step-by-step instructions for wireless internet on the DVC campus. You will need your InSite Portal ID and password.

Smoking policy
Smoking at Diablo Valley College is restricted to parking lots at the Pleasant Hill Campus and student parking lots at the San Ramon Campus. 

State law prohibits smoking within 20 feet of all doorways and windows.


Marijuana policy at DVC
Recreational marijuana is legal in California, but it is still prohibited on all Contra Costa Community College District property, colleges and campuses. Please learn more about our policy

Policy on skateboarding, skating, and bicycling on campus
I n accordance with V.C. 21113(f), the use of bicycles, motorized bicycles, electric bicycles, skateboards, electrically motorized boards, and roller skates on the DVC campus is strictly prohibited.

Please be a good neighbor and consider our surrounding neighborhoods
Help us preserve DVC's excellent reputation by doing your part to be a good neighbor! We understand that our students sometimes have to park on neighborhood streets at the beginning of the semester when campus parking is harder to find. If you do park off-campus, please show respect for our neighbors by doing your part to keep their streets clean, quiet, and peaceful!
Safety message
The College District Police Department would like to provide Safety Tips to help you stay safe and keep your valuables from going missing.  

Please take the time to consider the following safety tips while going about your daily routine: 
  • Never leave any items of value unattended. 
  • Always check to make sure your vehicle has been locked and secured. This includes making sure your windows are rolled up and secured.
  • If you need to leave a room, office, or classroom, take your belongings with you or ask a friend or colleague to keep an eye on them for you... Even if you are only going to be gone a minute.
  • Never leave your office unattended without locking. If you need help securing an office or lab, contact Police Services immediately for assistance. You can contact Police Services at (925) 686-5547
  • Do not leave items of value out in "plain view." This would include items such as: bags, purses, laptops, wallets, etc.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings. If you notice anything or anyone suspicious, contact Police Services for assistance.
