Board Selects Ogden as Superintendent
Garilee Ogden
On May 25, the Groveport Madison School Board selected Garilee Ogden to serve as superintendent of the District, following the February, 2018 resignation of superintendent Bruce Hoover. The decision to hire Ogden came after a three-month search that yielded nearly 30 applicants for the position.

Ogden, who currently serves as the District's director of curriculum, instruction and professional development, succeeds John Hurd, who became the District's interim superintendent immediately following Hoover's departure.

Ogden began her educational career in 1994 as a newspaper reporter covering school and government events for the Deming Headlight/Las Cruses Sun News. Prior to moving to Ohio, she served as a teacher, principal and director for the Deming Public Schools in Las Cruses, New Mexico. South-Western City Schools hired Ogden as an intermediate school principal in 2008. In 2010, Dublin City Schools recruited Ogden to serve as an elementary school principal. In 2013, she went to work for Upper Arlington City Schools/Battelle for Kids as the director of professional development and accountability. She has been in her current role with Groveport Madison Schools since July 2016.

The New GM High School - In the Final Stretch!
There is an incredible sense of excitement and anticipation for the opening of the new high school. For the most part, the construction phase of the project is wrapping up, with the project's architect and the construction manager carefully working through their "punch lists" to ensure all of the work is complete to their exacting specifications.

At this point, rooms are being cleaned, floors are being waxed, and furniture and equipment arrive on an almost daily basis. At the same time, health and building inspections have commenced, and our staff is being trained to use and maintain the various electrical and mechanical systems.

High School Bricks Available Soon
There is no doubt that the old high school building holds fond memories for many. We have directed the demolition contractor to maintain a pile of salvaged bricks so that the public may have a keepsake item from the school. The brick pile will be located close to the main entrance of the site. If you stop by to get a brick, please be careful, as the bricks may have wire or other sharp objects attached to them.

New GM High School Dedication Scheduled for Aug. 29
The District extends a community-wide invitation to attend the dedication ceremony for the new high school. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 29, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This will be a great time to tour the building and learn how it will benefit our students for many years to come. We look forward to seeing you there!

School Starts on Tuesday, September 4; Enroll Now!
If you know of a family new to our school district, be sure to share this information with them so that they can get their child enrolled for the coming school year.

The Groveport Madison Schools "SpeedyStart" online registration system makes enrolling a child for school quick and easy. Most of the registration process can be completed from the comfort of home. After completing the online portion of the registration, the parent/guardian will be invited to schedule a convenient time to meet with our Enrollment Center staff to finalize the child's enrollment.

DON'T WAIT. ENROLL NOW! Enrolling early helps to ensure children will enjoy a smooth start to the school year. By registering early, we can provide parents with the child's school assignment, set up bus routes (where applicable), and provide all the information parents need to be ready for the start of the school year. To enroll a child or get additional information, visit our Enrollment Center website at www.gocruisers.org/enrollment.aspx.

Please Note:  Preschool enrollment cannot be completed online. Please call  Roberta McDonnell at 614-916-1166 to schedule an appointment.
Get Ready for Kindergarten Camp!
For kindergarteners and their parents, the first few days of school are often filled with a mix of emotions: anticipation, excitement, and, maybe even, some anxiety. We want to make sure that our kindergarteners - and their parents - experience only the positive emotions associated with becoming part of the Cruiser family.

Our 2018-2019 School Calendar is Available
The Groveport Madison Schools 2018-2019 school calendar is available on the District's homepage under the Quick Links section. S chool will begin on Sept. 4.
