Addressing climate change while improving the lives of the urban poor
From lighting up slums in India with solar power to building more resilient communities in Mozambique, there is an enormous groundswell of action underway across the globe to address climate change.

Watch this short video featuring the highlights of a Momentum for Change special event at the Bonn Climate Change Conference to showcase climate solutions. The event brought together two Lighthouse Activity representatives to speak about how the urban poor in developing countries are leading climate action.
Brightening India's urban slums
In the slums of Bangalore, children cannot do their homework after the sun sets. Families use polluting kerosene lamps, and the fuel eats up a big part of their incomes.

One of our 2013 Lighthouse Activities, Pollinate Energy trains members of the local community to distribute and install solar lighting systems as micro-entrepreneurs. Armed with the best solar systems on the market, they sell the systems to families within their communities.

Read Pollinate Energy's Progress Report and learn how many lives they've brightened.
Funding low-carbon homes
ECOCASA is helping Mexico tackle climate change by unlocking financing to build low-carbon housing and increasing the amount of mortgages available to buy these houses. ECOCASA was recognized as a Momentum for Change Lighthouse Activity in 2013.

It was recently featured in The News, an English language newspaper in Mexico City. Read the story.
