Sister Simone to Witness Gospel Joy in Detroit
Join her on Wednesday, February 26
Dear NETWORK member,
Throughout 2014, NETWORK is living out Pope Francis' exhortation Evangelii Gaudium - Joy of the Gospel. NETWORK Executive Director and leader of NETWORK's Nuns on the Bus Sister Simone Campbell will be in Detroit on Wednesday, February 26, where she will engage in the first of a series of visits to seek out where Gospel Joy is being engaged across the United States. You are invited to join her, and invite friends by forwarding this email or distributing this flyer.

Please RSVP to join one or more of the following events on Wednesday, February 26:

11:00am-11:45am Visit Mercy Education Project

Join Sister Simone in learning about Mercy Education Project's ministry of moving women and girls toward increased self-sufficiency. Mercy Education Project is at 1450 Howard Street.

12:00pm-1:30pm Join Mercy Education Project for Lunch

Spend time getting to know fellow NETWORK members and the community at Mercy Education Center over lunch. Space is limited and will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis.

Note: Sister Simone will not be at the lunch for most of the time, as she will be with a small group visiting Cabrini Clinic, a free clinic for uninsured adults. Due to respect for patient privacy, we cannot open the Cabrini Clinic visit to a large group.

2:00pm-3:30pm Visit the Dominican Literacy Center

Join Sister Simone in listening to adult learners about how gaining literacy enriched themselves, their families, and their employers. The Dominican Literacy Center is at 11148 Harper Avenue.

Also, we wanted to make you aware of other events organized by our partners, where you can meet up with Sister Simone. On Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00pm, Sister Simone will speak on "Immigration Reform: The Journey for Justice Continues" at an event hosted by the Adrian Dominican Sisters at Siena Heights University. Also, on the evening of Wednesday, February 26, Sister Simone will offer a keynote address "The Reality of Poverty and Political Paralysis" at an event hosted by the Pontiac Area Vicariate and the Agape Community of Oakland University.
