STRONG, SMART, BOLD IN ACTION:
She Votes 2016

She Votes is a national Girls Inc. initiative that teaches girls ages of 6-18 about the importance of:

  • Civic Participation
  • Voting Rights
  • The Power of Making a Difference Through Government
  • Exercising the Right to Vote
  • The Possibility of Becoming a Candidate for Public Office

Because this is a presidential election year, Girls Inc. hosted a mock election  where girls voted on real candidates and ballot initiatives.

Girls also completed their own "Voting is Important Because..." flyers.

As part of this year's program, the Santa Barbara Center welcomed Amanda Pelch, co-president community ed, membership & administration, from the League of Women Voters Santa Barbara, to speak to the girls about womens' voting rights. #BOLD

Girls Who Code at the Santa Barbara Center

Girls Who Code is a national non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology. Volunteer Caroline Harrah is leading Girls Who Code classes at the Santa Barbara Cener, teaching girls how to use computer science to impact their community, and become role models for other girls interested in computer science. #SMART

Goleta Valley  Dinner Club
The culinary artists and entrepreneurs of the Goleta Valley Center’s Dinner Club prepare healthy, family-sized meals each Friday for sale to our families. Focusing on cooking skills, marketing, customer service, quality control, and money handling, the girls work together in teams to make their business a success! The Dinner Club has raised $600 so far for the Goleta Valley Center. #STRONG #SMART #BOLD
FROM THE GYM

Our  team gymnasts  began the competition calendar in September with three weekends of competition. Our Level 4 team brought home 4th place at the Second Prelim in Van Nuys. Coaches are noticing an improvment in all aspects of competition, including increased confidence, performance readiness, and skill technique. All 27 team gymnasts qualified for the Sectional Qualifier  at the end of October.

Our Gymnastics facility is pleased to announce Preschool Playtime! This is an instructor-led warm-up with free play on the equipment for ages 18 months to 5 years. Parents are required to participate. Preschool Playtime is open to the community.
