WELCOME BACK - SEPTEMBER 4th!
We were so happy to welcome back Hollie and Amy from Carea Health Services Pickering, for a very frank discussion about healthy relationships and sexual health. We had some great laughs today! Thank for all of the swag you brought along for our members to enjoy.

Carea Community Health has a new Health Centre opening in Pickering. I will follow up next week with some additional information.
Carea Community Health Centre is a non-profit charitable organization providing a variety of free, community programs and services including: health promotion and wellness programs; primary care, counselling and mental health; diabetes education; Hepatitis C screening, treatment support, education and outreach; geriatric assessment & intervention; young parent support, youth programs, Aboriginal programs; community development programs; and fundraising events which include developing charitable partnerships/sponsorships to fund programs.

SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE
Program Reminders
  • Please remember to bring your name badge with you, as this is what allows you access to our In Motion program.

  • There is limited space available in our Event Room. Please arrive early if there is a speaker you wish to see. If our Event Room has reached it's maximum capacity - members can utilize the Dome Activities early.

  • On regular scheduled days, the Dome will be closing at 11:00 am. All members are required to vacate the Dome by 11:00 am.

  • Several of our members have scent sensitivities. Please help us provide a scent free environment, so that everyone can enjoy our program.

  • Please remember to put your cell phone on vibrate when you are listening to our guest speakers. It is very disrupting to our presenters and other members when cell phones go off during presentations.

  • Please refrain from conversations while our guest speakers are presenting and when our members are asking questions. If you need to have a conversation - please take it into the hallway so that you are not interupting our speakers or other members.
IN OUR COMMUNITY
Transportation to In Motion
One of the barriers for people attending the In Motion program is the lack of public transportation to our facility. We are working on partnering with a local business who is looking into providing bus service to our program on Tuesday mornings.

Do you know of anyone who is not attending our program due to transportation issues.

Please contact Tammy ASAP.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Last year, the Pickering Soccer club applied for the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund, as a way to generate new programs that could expand our club and our facility. Our application was accepted, and the In Motion program was implemented.

In Motion is a FREE Active Living Program for Adults 55+ that incorporates Health & Wellness Education, Recreational Activities and Social Interaction. Our members have been meeting once a week since January – and this program has steadily grown from 18 participants the first week to over 100 regular participants and over 200 members.

As we enter into the final stages of our grant funding, we are now planning for the program’s sustainability. Our In Motion participants have been very vocal about their hopes that this program continues once the funding is complete. We would like to ensure that happens, because the educational, recreational and social opportunities this program has created, has had such a positive impact on our members.

If you are interested in expanding your brand, or exploring sponsorship opportunities, please contact Tammy Lyle-Gravlev at [email protected] .
