World Affairs Council of Orange County

Message from the Chairman Elect:

Dear Friend of the Council,

The World Affairs Council of Orange County will celebrate the contributions of immigrants and the achievements of diverse ethnic communities to our nation at a dinner event on May 20, 2014 at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel.

We will be joined with many first time guests at this special event through the various Orange County ethnic organizations. We encourage you to attend and meet over 200 guests within the various communities. This will be a great time to engage with others who share mutual interests in international affairs.

We will be honoring our long-time Trustee, Herb Nootbaar (who remains very active at 105 years old) with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and also have a dynamic panel discussion, "America: A Nation of Immigrants."

The distinguished panel composed of past and present Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipients include Goli Ameri, former Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Bijan Kian, Presidential appointee as one of five Directors of the US Export-Import Bank; Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez, former Director of the Peace Corp and US Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome, Italy;  and Charles Zhang, entrepreneur, founder of Pick Up Stix restaurant line and Asceptic Solutions, USA.

Please contact us this week to confirm your reservation at orangecounty@worldaffairscouncil.org or call 949-253-5751. For more information, please go to our website at www.worldaffairscouncil.org. We hope to see you at this exciting program!
