This dryer screw is a recent example of our equipment refurbishment services we offer to our customers in the chemical industry. Before beginning the repair we must first perform a thorough dimensional inspection and outline the defects that require repair. Once the quote is approved we begin the refurbishment.
For this rotor, our scope of work was:
- Undercut two journal to eliminate any contaminated metal prior to welding
- Pre-heat the areas before MIG welding both journals using 309 stainless steel welding wire
- Perform a PT after the first weld pass
- Straighten the rotor within +/-.002
- Machine both journals back to the original dimensions
- Mill the keyway
- Before shipment coat the machined journals with cosmoline to protect from the elements until the customer is ready to install
