St, Matthew's Episcopal Church

Saturday, April 2
8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

It's that time again! All are invited to help spruce up the St. Matthew's campus for Holy Week and Easter.  Come for an hour or stay for the day - any time you can contribute is appreciated!

Projects large and small--make it a family day! There are jobs appropriate for all ages and every skill or activity level.
We can use your enthusiasm and talent for outside projects like planting flowers, spreading mulch and painting, or for inside projects, like cleaning areas of the kitchen, re-organizing cabinets and closets, or washing windows.
Lunch will be provided, and plenty of water, tea and soda will be on hand.
Sign up sheets can be found on the bulletin board in the hallway, or add your name to the sign up list via email here.

"The Gaze of Love"
Presented by The Rev. Laura Bryant
Sponsored by St. Michael's Episcopal Church DOK Chapter
6780 James B Rivers Drive
Stone Mountain, Ga. 30087

The Gaze of Love
Prayer is as simple as letting ourselves be seen by the loving gaze of God.
Lent begins with the Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness. He has just heard words of love spoken over him at his baptism: "You are my you I take great delight." But before he can begin his mission, Jesus spends 40 days absorbing the truth and reality of this love and resisting the temptation to deny it.
So it is for us. Lent is a time to absorb the reality of God's love, and the truth of these words that are spoken over us as well, in ways that shape our lives and ministries.
What are some ways that we can practice and experience this? Through Scripture, art, silence and shared conversation, we will gather under the loving gaze of God for a time of quiet and reflection.

How do you know that Spring is coming?
Golf Tournaments!
The Snellville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association (SCPAAA), is again holding its annual golf tournament/fund raiser.  The SCPAAA is a 501(c)3      organization whose goal is to raise money to provide support to the Snellville Police Department.  As part of our One Congregation One Precinct program, St. Matthew's is collaborating with SCPAAA to promote this gold tournament. The tournament will take place at Summit Chase Country Club on Monday, April 24, 2017.  Registration and practice starts at 8am; shotgun start is at 9am.  Individual entry fee is $85.00 and entry fee for a foursome plus tee sponsorship is $400. Let's see if we can field a couple of foursomes to support this good cause.  More information and entry forms will be on the       bulletin board in the hallway and in the church office, or download the entry form here.  For more information, contact Mary Fergus at: or 770/985-1322.

From Josh:
Thanks to everyone who has supported my Eagle Project!  I appreciate all the donations.  We had our first workday last Saturday and the Meditation Path is defined by borders.  This weekend we will set the benches and if weather allows, we will dig the holes and install the signs.  If necessary, we will complete it next Sunday afternoon (March 26).  I am in the process of etching scripture verses and prayers onto granite tiles for the signs, which will be mounted onto wood posts.
We are on schedule to complete the project before Palm Sunday, so I hope you will visit the Meditation Path during Holy Week.
I am still accepting donations to help fund the project.  Any leftover funds will be donated to St. Matthew's and designated for upkeep and beautification of the Meditation Path.

PLEASE NOTE -- Changes in Kitchen Access
Due to an incident that happened recently regarding the kitchen, we have installed a key pad style lock on the kitchen door in order to control unnecessary traffic and ensure safety.  We want to keep the door closed when the kitchen is not in use.
If you or your group need access to the kitchen, please contact either Charmaine or Susan.  You can also contact Mother Liz or Steve Charron.
Please note that we are not trying to prevent utilization of the kitchen, but the campus is used by a lot of groups, and we want to be intentional about access.  Many thanks for your help with this.
