2016 3Q Middle Market Indicators

 
Middle market growth continued during the third quarter of 2016 and the outlook is improving.  According to the National Center for The Middle Market, revenue growth for middle market companies grew 6.3% over the last twelve months and is projected to grow an additional 4.9% over the next twelve months.  Middle market companies also report strong employment growth and recovering confidence in the global economy (56%), national economy (71%) and their local economies (80%).  According to the Center, the middle market makes up 3% of all U.S. companies, but one-third of all U.S. jobs.  See their infographic here.

The Election Is Over...Now What?

Now that a very exhaustive election cycle has ended, questions are emerging about how the new administration will impact employment and employment law. Employers should now be aware of how all of the changes may or may not affect the estimated 40% of American workers who will be re-classified from exempt to non-exempt by December 1.  Many employers have been procrastinating on making these changes in hopes the election would somehow magically make it "all go away".  But the time for action is now...
