BioInc@NYMC Encourages Entrepreneurial Spirit at Pitching to the Angels Event


BioInc@NYMC hosted a Pitching to the Angels event on April 21 when four local start-up companies pitched their products and services to a panel of four experts. In return, they received valuable feedback on their presentations, business models and investability. The event was presented by Westfair Communications and the Westchester Angels, a member-based angel investment group, focused on funding startups in Westchester County and surrounding areas. D. Douglas Miller, M.D., C.M., M.B.A., right, dean of the School of Medicine, joined the panel of judges, from left: Jonathan Rosen, founder, Collaberex; Jeffrey Zink, Angel investor, speaker and former vice president of Yahoo; Helene Rude, director, Marist College Cloud Computing and Analytics Center; and Tereza Nemessanyi, entrepreneur-in-residence, Microsoft. Department of Physical Therapy Presents Twelfth Annual Doctoral Project Presentation Day

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) Class of 2016 breathed a sigh of relief when they presented their doctoral projects at the Twelfth Annual Doctoral Project Presentation Day on April 21 bringing them a step closer to crossing the stage at Carnegie Hall at Commencement on May 23. Their presentations were the result of work that began during the first year of study at NYMC in the categories of clinical research, education, and public health service. When the student presentations were done, a keynote presentation "Digital Health and Telemedicine: New Frontiers in Care Delivery and Clinical Assessment," was given by David Putrino, Ph.D., P.T., director, telemedicine and virtual rehabilitation, Burke Medical Research Institute, assistant professor, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Weill-Cornell Medicine. , center, human resources assistant, had the honor of ringing the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on April 26 in honor of the Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue campaign and autism awareness month.

, director, university academic support programs and assistant professor of biochemistry, presented "Learning Style Preferences of Medical Students: Implications for Academic Support Programs" at the AAMC's Northeast Regional Group on Educational Affairs meeting held at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, R.I., on April 8.
