The NDNY-FCBA held its 13th Annual CLE and Golf Event at the historic Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, New York, on Monday, August 14, 2017.

The NDNY-FCBA and the Board of Judges for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York recently honored the dedicated professionals who served the legal needs of the economically underprivileged at ceremonies in Syracuse, Albany and Utica.

Randolph F. Treece served as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Northern District of New York from 2001 - 2015. He is now of counsel to the law firm of E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy in Troy, where he was born and raised. Judge Treece, or Randy as he wants you to call him, discussed his mediation practice, as well as other aspects of his career.

“Looking Back Over 25 Years” – Syracuse University College of Law, Dineen Hall, Saturday, October 21 at 10 a.m. Hon. Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., Senior United States District Judge and former United States Attorney; George H. Lowe, former Magistrate Judge and United States Attorney; and FCBA Past President James H. McGowan discuss the history of, and practice before, the Court over the past 25 years. FCBA President-Elect Mitchell J. Katz will moderate the discussion.

Conference and Reception for Clerks of Court and Chief Deputies for the District and Bankruptcy Courts in the Second Circuit – James T. Foley Federal Courthouse in Albany, Wednesday and Thursday, November 8-9, 2017 (Reception: Albany Courthouse, Wednesday, November 8, 2017, 6 p.m.).

Susan B. Anthony Reenactment – James T. Foley Federal Courthouse in Albany, Thursday, November 16, 2017, 6 p.m. Members of the judiciary and the community will be playing the roles of those involved in the Susan B. Anthony trial, held in June 1873. The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York prosecuted Anthony for voting illegally (as a woman) in the 1872 election. The reenactment is open to the public and free to attend.

FCBA CLE, Annual Meeting and Dinner – Albany Hilton, Thursday, December 7, 2017 (CLE, 1 to 4 p.m; Annual Meeting, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; Cocktails, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; and Dinner, 6:30 pm). FCBA members may attend all the events including the annual meeting.
