Register Bikes at the Chicago Police Department

To help deter bike thefts in the area, the 19th District of the Chicago Police Department's Alternative Policing Strategy team is offering a new measure to help return stolen bicycles to their owners.

Now, when cyclists register their bicycles with the police department, they will be provided a sticker stating, "This bicycle is registered with the Chicago Police Department."

Register your bicycle online and pick up the sticker at 19th District Headquarters, located at 850 West Addison St. At present time, stickers are available only at this location, but the police plan to expand this effort citywide.

If your large group wants multiple stickers for an event, please contact the 19th District CAPS office at 312-744-8320, and they will be able to assist.

While this work produces unavoidable inconvenience in our neighborhood, this work will eliminate over two miles of slow zones where trains slow to as little as 15 mph to ensure safe operation, and will continue during select weekends through September.  We will keep you apprised throughout the scope of this important project to update our transit system.

Please be sure to plan ahead and allow extra travel time this weekend.  Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,
