LIFT, NIMS and Ivy Tech Combine efforts to Address the High-Tech Industrial Technology Skills Gap
The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT) - one of the new national manufacturing innovation institutes - and Ivy Tech Community College (Ivy Tech) are partnering to enhance and expand training to fill the largest number of open manufacturing jobs in states along the auto corridor. The partners will prepare a new industrial technology maintenance workforce, which drives the performance and improvement of high-tech manufacturing and accounts for 60% of job growth from 2011 to 2014 in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

ISU Students Build Drones Using 3D Printing Technology
A recent project at Indiana State University married two of the hottest trends in today's manufacturing and logistics industry: drones and 3D printing. A group of seniors studying manufacturing engineering used a cutting-edge 3D printer to build two drones, technically called Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Unlike years past when students ordered pre-manufactured parts to assemble, this project required them to "print" the entire frame of the drone using 3D printing technology-an emerging method that's revolutionizing the manufacturing sector.

3 Reasons to Register Your Company with the Indiana Supplier INsight Database
Indiana Supplier INsight is a valuable database tool, and it is an integral part of the effort of Conexus Indiana to promote and support advanced manufacturing and logistics throughout the state. Of the many reasons to ensure your company is in the database, I believe these are the top 3:

1. Get noticed! Conexus Indiana regularly receives requests for supplier listings from various entities like IEDC, OEM's, Tier-1's, etc. You can't get on a list if you're not registered.

2. Invitations to matchmaking events. Last year, we facilitated over 125 supplier matchmaking meetings. Invitations were sent to companies found using Indiana Supplier INsight.

3. Receive notifications of procurement opportunities. This past quarter, there were over 130 procurement opportunities posted to Indiana Supplier INsight. Only companies who register receive notifications.
