DEAR FRIENDS,

It's that time of year. Time to pick those fun but challenging rides and start training for them. What are you going to take on in the Fall? Will it be Six Gap in Dahlonega, Ga, the Horrible Hundred or maybe a local favorite, Intracoastal Waterway Century?
We decided to go to the streets and ask local athletes some advice and here's what we gathered:
  • Of course TRAINING is important. Here are some suggestions we were given
    •  Pineda repeats(out and back the entire length as many times as you can), High Point repeats off Rockledge Drive, Clermont(attempt a few Sugarloaf repeats) and then there is always a nice long ride into a brutal headwind. That's easy to come by around here.
    • Space Coast Velo Sport has put together a Summer Cycling Challenge for their members. This challenge will be getting you ready for the Fall Centuries. Join SCVS today and accept the challenge!

  • Maintain your bike!
    • The lowest gear you have is not enough in some cases (Six Gap). Have us check your gearing and get your bike ready for those climbs.
    • Brake Pads need to be in GREAT working condition. When descending Hogpen on Six Gap, you can see speeds of over 60mph.
    • CAN NOT stress enough the importance of your wheels and tires. They need to be in perfectly working condition.
    • Finally, keep your drivetrain clean. Dirt and grime on your gearing will slow you down.
    • OR stop by and let one of our two full time mechanics check out your bike for a quick turn around.
  • Get hydrated! Day of is too late to hydrate properly. Focus on getting yourself hydrated the days leading up to the ride. May we suggest Skratch Labs Active Hydration. With the variety of nutrition, you are sure to find what you need.
  • Be sure your bike is fitted well. These are long endurance rides and a proper fit can save a lot of energy and make you more efficient. We have 3 certified fit specialist on staff. Call for your appointment today!
  • CHAMOIS CREAM!!! And that is all we'll say.

Good luck whatever your endeavors are for the fall and stop by Infinity to stock up on nutrition and get your bike ready!

Sincerely,

The Infinity Crew

INFINITY SHOUT OUT

This month we would like to congratulate Infinity Bike Shop owner Marshall Reeves and customer and friend Willy Moolenaar on their huge accomplishments.

On June 10th, Marshall and crew set out to attempt cycling's hardest race, The Race Across America.  After riding through grueling desert heat, steep mountains and tropical storm strength winds, he came up 300 miles short of the finish. His strength and determination is inspiring and knowing Marshall, it's probably not over. Stay tuned...

Willy Moolenaar is not your average triathlete. In August of 2013, Willy took on the challenge of competing in the World's Duathlon in Ottawa, Alaska. There she conquered her age division and is now World Champion. But she wasn't done yet. In May 2014 she traveled to NC where she dominated and won her age group in the Long Course National Championships. Now having a World and National Championship title under her belt, what's next for Willy? Battle of the Bridges of course! Congratulations on such huge wins Willy!
