TITLE VI and Loan Leveraging August 8-9, 2017 | Green Bay, Wisconsin
| Hotel Deadline Wednesday July 26, 2017 |
|
|
Instructor: Robert Lamp
Course Description: In these uncertain times of funding, project planning is vital and must include financing components that use a variety of funding sources. Within the 1996 Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) is the "hidden gem" of leveraging the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG). The Title VI Loan Guarantee Program can multiply the funds available under your IHBG grant. Learn how to multiply up to 5 times the Need portion of your IHBG Grant and mix the funds with other resources. This comprehensive two-day class has been designed to cover all aspects of the Title VI program and
Loan Leveraging. After attending this class, participants will have the knowledge and confidence necessary to make informed decisions about the feasibility of including Title VI/Loan Leveraging options as part of their tribe's future housing development plans. If you are interested in learning more about Title VI/Loan Leveraging, and how it can benefit your tribe's housing development plans, then attending this class is a must.

USDA Seeks Applications for Grants to Support the Development of Rural Community Facilities
|
|
Yesterday the Secretary announced a new funding opportunity through USDA Rural Development to support the development of essential Rural Community Facilities. The announcement can be accessed below. Within the announcement there are hyperlinks to the program's webpage and the federal register notice.
This program is a little different than what we've traditionally offered, in that it provides grant funding for predevelopment costs and technical assistance. Tribes are eligible both as technical assistance providers and as ultimate recipients. Therefore, for all that are interested, I'd recommend a close read of both the federal register notice and the webpage as the eligible costs for technical assistance providers and ultimate recipients are different.
Applications are due at 5:00 PM EDT on July 24, 2017.

The President released his FY 2018 Budget Request to Congress last week. NAIHC was disappointed to see that many federal programs that support tribal housing have proposed budget cuts or were eliminated altogether. NAIHC will work with Congress to ensure that these cuts are not enacted, and encourages all NAIHC members to work with their Congressional delegation to make sure tribal programs are adequately funded. You can find NAIHC's FY 2018 Budget Request Here.
