Ingham Impact Podcast
Ingham Great Start Collaborative  (GSC) is part of Michigan's Great Start system. The mission is for every family to have access to a universal, comprehensive and collaborative spectrum of community-based, early childhood programs, services, supports and strategies. Ingham GSC has new materials for parents with kids ages zero to preschool: the Early Learning Calendar and the Kindergarten Readiness Packet. Kids Count 2018 was released on April 17 and reports on the well-being of children in Michigan.

Arts Integration
"ArtsEdge" at Kennedy Center defines arts integration as "an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process, which connects to an art form and another subject area, and meets evolving objectives in both." Each year, a dedicated group of administrators, teaching artists and classroom teachers commit to expanding the role the arts play in classrooms. Register your school team today for the Summer Arts Integration Institute in August.

Michelle Nicholson - Child Advocate
On April 24, 2018, Michelle Nicholson, Ingham ISD's Executive Director of Early Childhood Services, received the Child Advocate of the Year Award. She is pictured receiving this honor from Mike Foley, Executive Director of the Children's Trust Fund.

Congratulations Michelle and thank you for your commitment to our youngest learners and families!
Wildlife Habitat at Ingham ISD
A partnership between Ingham ISD, Michigan DNR, Pheasants Forever and the Michigan United Conservation Club will bring a Wildlife Habitat to the Ingham ISD campus on the corner of Howell and Hagadorn.  The project started with site prep last year to remove vegetation. Phase two is underway,  which includes planting a cover crop to hold the soil now that the vegetation has been cleared. Next, native prairie grasses will be brought in, along with additional crops, and they will begin the habitat restoration for wild game. Ingham ISD is also improving the drainage of this parcel at the same time.
