CHS to Raise Awareness During National Adoption Month

Children's Home Society is looking forward to raising awareness of the need to adopt children from foster care--and raising donations to support our mission--during this November's National Adoption Month. Look for our billboards around Richmond, TV spots on NBC12, CBS6 and cable channels, and an ad in Richmond Magazine. All promote the same message- "DO SOMETHING WONDERFUL"...by adopting one of Virginia's 1705 children awaiting permanent homes. Thanks to our corporate and media partners--and  Burford Advertising!

We also plan to get some PR coverage by CBS6 and the Times Dispatch,  a News at Noon interview on NBC on November 14th, and a radio interview on Clear Channel stations November 15th. All culminating in a Sweet Frog fundraiser on National Adoption Day November 19th. Take your whole family out for frozen yogurt and support the cause!
THANKS to all our Runners and Supporters...and CONGRATS to NFL Ticket Winners!

CHS was very pleased at the support and enthusiasm of our friends, families, and volunteers for the VCU Broad Street Mile fundraising race on September 24. Thanks to support from Virginia Family Dentistry, UnitedLex, Sprint and others, we were one of the TOP FINISHERS in fundraising.   Our runners finished in second and third in various races, including team members from UnitedLex.

SPRINT was generous enough to provide NFL ticket s for luxury box seats to our winners. W e also invited some of our adoptive families and Possibilities Project participants to enjoy watching the Redskins defeat the Browns in October. All around SUCCESS for CHS fans!
Annual Report 2015-2016: Building a Continuum of Care
With our just-completed Annual Report, CHS is looking forward to sharing our recent accomplishments, and reporting our strengths. The Annual Report will provide an overview and results of our four essential programs, which now span infancy to adulthood. We have included our newest program, The Possibilities Project, which thanks to you--and in partnership with the Better Housing Coalition--provides ongoing housing and counseling to vulnerable young adults who have aged out of foster care. We will share with you highlights of the year and recognize our donors and friends--like you--who make it all possible.

Let me know if you would like us to send you a copy, either by mail or email. A link will be available on our website soon as well.

In the News for Generous
Donation by SisterFund

We were thrilled that the SisterFund, the newest giving circle created in partnership with The Community Foundation, awarded a grant of $20,000 to CHS.  And we appreciate the Times Dispatch for recognizing our Possibilities Project to support aged-out young adults, in Notable Gifts on October 8th. Click here to read the RTD story.

This grant, along with several other grants and donations, will support the Possibilities Project, a collaboration between Children's Home Society of Virginia and  Better Housing Coalition .
Funds will be used to provide trauma-informed supports including access to education, safe housing and life coaching for young adults aging out of the foster care system.

Waiting Child Spotlight: ANTHONY
17-year-old Anthony is a quiet young man who likes to play basketball at any time of the day. Anthony loves to talk about music and art with others. He also has a love of new shoes and is always modeling a new pair! Anthony also likes to play video games/X-box, ride his bike, and play sports in the neighborhood. Anthony is a respectful young man who has been through a difficult time in his life. Anthony needs an adoptive family who can help him feel confident in his own personality and interests. Anthony's future family should have children his age or older or no children. Anthony deserves a family who will help him find himself and give him the time and attention he needs to grow!
