Melges Boat Works, Inc. was founded by Harry C. Melges, Sr. in 1945. It all started when Melges built three wooden C Scows. They went to a major regatta with over 80 boats on the starting line. It was an instant success — The Melges C scows performed very well in the championship.

The Melges Family received hand written orders in the parking lot at the end of the event, and from that day forward, Melges Boats was cranking out high quality sailboats.

From the first wooden C Scows to today's family of Melges Scows and Sportboats, every Melges boat is signed, sealed, endorsed and delivered race ready by the best, for the best. Every day, we work to expand our current classes and nurture the newest members of the Melges Family: The Melges 40 and the Melges 14.

INLAND CHAMPIONSHIP
The Big Dance starts now

The Big Inland. Four scow fleets converge on Lake Geneva to duke it out for the oldest trophies in Melges sailing. Established in 1898, the ILYA showcases world-class racing and unparalleled camaraderie crossing generations of families.

This year’s Inland Championship, which will attract more than 200 boats and 500 competitors, will determine the top Inland sailors in the A Scow, E Scow, C Scow, and the MC Scow – classes built and strongly supported by Melges Performance Sailboats.
SIKON – SAMURAI SPIRIT
joins the Melges 40 Grand Prix

Another Melges 40 comes to life! Mr. Yukihiro Ishida announced that Sikon – Samurai Spirit will be the next boat to join the Melges 40 Class.

The Japanese Team will make their first appearance on the starting line at the second ever Melges 40 Grand Prix event, scheduled for October 11-14 in Valencia.

“We are happy to return to racing with Melges, which we have found to be the best format for one design racing," said Mr. Ishida. "We wanted the most interesting and best performing one design monohull on the market, so we chose the Melges 40. After following the first steps of the Melges 40 and the first event, we realized very quickly that it is the future of one design racing. Melges boats are simply a legend that guarantees top racing, the best performance and unforgettable events. Based on our previous experience with the Melges 20 and 32 Classes, it was easy to decide to start this exciting new Melges 40 campaign. We have really fallen in love with this boat and look forward to being the first of many Japanese boats in the Melges 40 fleet."

The Melges 40 family is very happy to welcome Mr. Ishida to the next level.
TORPYONE HOWLS AT THE MELGES 32 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

After sailing an excellent event, we caught up with Edoardo Lupi: "Today is a special day — a big day for the entire  Torpyone  family. After many seasons and a second place finish in Miami at the 2014 Worlds, today we celebrate our best ever result. We are European Champions in the Melges 32 Class, a class we've always been deeply in love with."

COUNTDOWN TO MELGES 32 WORLDS

The Melges 32 never sleeps and the clock is running fast in the countdown to the World Championship  presented by Boero in Cala Galera, Italy. It is the most important event of the season, as well as the closing act of the first edition of the Melges 32 World League . G-Spot leads the World League standings.
US Sailing Olympic Development Program to support the Midwest High Performance Sailing Camp

The Midwest’s top junior sailors will sail Melges 14s September 22-24 in the Midwest High Performance Sailing Camp.

These sailors will receive Olympic-class coaching in one of the hottest new one-design sailboats. It’s a great opportunity to get connected with the US Sailing Olympic Development Program.

Clay Johnson's Showtime  took the W at the E Scow Eastern Championship. 35 Melges E Scows took to Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club for the show.

Charleston's Carolina Yacht Club will play host to the  E Scow National Championship this year.
WESTERN MICHIGAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Beautiful Crystal Lake, Michigan was home to the 2017 Western Michigan Yachting Association Championship. Trying conditions and tight competition showed why the Westerns is a must-attend event.
