Institute Day 2018 Reminders and Twitter Chat
Kane County Institute Day 2018 is next week on March 2nd! When you arrive at your host site, you will need to check-in and pick up your folder for the day, which contains your individual schedule, PD information, and other important items to note from the ROE. The ROE will also be hosting a Twitter Chat the week leading up to Institute Day, and you can participate by following the ROE on Twitter and using the hashtag #leadassistinspire.

Educator of the Year Nominations Due February 26th
Don't miss this opportunity to nominate someone you know that leads, assists, and inspires each day they walk through the school doors! Educator of the Year will be held on Friday, May 4th, at the Q Center in St. Charles and will be a celebration honoring all of the amazing educators and administrators of Kane County.

Nominations are to be delivered to the ROE by February 26th. After all nominations have been received, the ROE will contact nominees to set-up a time for an interview. Nomination materials can be downloaded from the ROE website. All nominees should be skillful, dedicated, and continue to play an active role in education.

The Douglas Hoeft Scholarship is Accepting Applications
Douglas Hoeft, a former Regional Superintendent of Kane County, was committed to education for all students and has a scholarship established in his name to honor his work and commitment to improve the educational system in Illinois. 

Applications for the scholarship are due April 1st, 2018. Applicants must be a graduate of a school or home school in Kane County and must be entering the first year of a vocational/technical program or an institution of higher education.

Active Shooter Response Training Course
The Kane County ROE and Sugar Grove Police Department have partnered to offer a two-day ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) instructor training course for school administrators, law enforcement, and other workplace administrators.

The course is designed to teach skills and strategies that bridge the gap between the time a violent event begins and law enforcement arrives. The training is on March 12th and 13th at the Sugar Grove Fire Protection HQ. The cost to attend is $595.

The Progress Report: Work Life Balance
Have you ever experienced feelings of burnout from working yourself too hard? Finding a work life balance is essential to preventing feelings of burnout, and this week's Progress Report gives several tips on how to create a better work life balance.

The Progress Report is a collaborative discussion space for professional learning. Each post is written by Katie Algrim, the ROE's Director of Innovative Professional Learning. If there are any topics that you would like to see a post on,  please contact Katie Algrim.

Online Courses By Educators, For Educators
Two new courses have recently been added to the Illinois Online Academy course catalog that are focused on teaching digital assessment tools and various Google applications for education.

These two courses were developed by the Central District 301 Instructional Coaching staff and will be taught by Katie Algrim, the ROE's Director of Innovative Professional Learning. Both Courses are 100% online, self-paced, and worth 4 PD Hours.
