CHAIRMAN'S CORNER:
LEADING DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Why are strategic relationships so critical in our work towards building more inclusive organizations? How can you build more of them, or deepen the ones you currently have?

My team and I are in Atlanta this week at The Linkage Institute for Leading Diversity & Inclusion, May 6-8, where I am honored to be a member of Linkage faculty. The Linkage Institute is a fully immersive D&I competency-based learning experience. During the week I am teaching six sessions on why strategic relationships are critical to getting things done, presenting the nuances and unique challenges, as well as huge opportunity, to building them in the diversity context. In my sessions, we'll discuss strategies for leaders to build and leverage relationships to effectively drive better business outcomes, getting to the heart of what we need to do to prepare businesses to drive organizational change.

Want to follow along during the week? Stay tuned in to my Twitter feed @jenniferbrown and through our partners at @LinkageInc this week as we share insights and best practices from the conference!

MORE ABOUT THE LINKAGE INSTITUTE

Linkage Leading Diversity & Inclusion

My session on Strategic Relationship Building will help attendees become knowledgeable about internal and external relationships key to accomplishing D&I objectives. We'll discuss ways to collaborate with other functional teams, external partners, and community leaders. We are excited not only for the chance to develop these D&I competencies, but to take part in the workshops, best practice sharing sessions with top organizations, and learning teams that form at this conference and continue into a Year of Learning to support continued development following the institute.

To learn more see the brochure, which can be downloaded from the Institute's web portal here.

The Institute's keynote presentations will provide opportunities for deep personal growth and reflection. This year's keynote speakers include:

  • Derrick N. Ashong, Founder of Take Back the Mic and international lecturer.
  • Caroline Casey, Disabilities advocate.
  • Anand Giridharadas, Author, columnist, and international lecturer.
  • Charles Ogletree, Professor and author on race and law.
  • Todd Mohr, President of Aerotek Inc.
Linkage's Business Impact Diversity and Inclusion Competency Model provides the framework necessary for linking D&I to core business functions and results, while positioning them as key drivers of agility, innovation, marketplace knowledge, problem-solving, and business success.
