Berkeley Law Remembers Edwin M. Lee '78
|
|
Edwin M. Lee, a 1978 graduate of Berkeley Law, died early Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 65. He was became San Francisco’s first Asian-American mayor in 2011 after a long career as a civil rights attorney and social justice activist.

The INS on the Line: Making Immigration Law on the US-Mexico Border

— As one of the first comprehensive legal histories of the INS in the Southwest, the book traces the myriad conflicts and contingencies that informed the shaping of US immigration law and the US-Mexico border in the 20th century. Kang is an associate professor of history at California State University, San Marcos, where she teaches and writes about the relationship between law and society on the nation’s northern and southern borders.

In Memoriam: Judge Harry Pregerson '50
|
Judge Harry Pregerson ’50, a fierce advocate for the disenfranchised who spent a half-century on the bench, died November 25 at his Los Angeles home. Pregerson, who had been suffering from respiratory ailments, was 94.
