Berkeley Law celebrated alumni captains of the 2016 Partners in Leadership (PiL) campaign with a gathering at the Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe in San Francisco. Thanks to the efforts of PiL captains, the 2016 campaign, where alumni firms and organizations compete against each other to achieve 100% alumni giving participation, doubled the number of gifts over the previous year. Interim Dean Melissa Murray, BHAA Board President John Kuo '88, and PiL co-chairs Tyler Gerking '02 and David Zapolsky '88 (pictured) celebrated PiL captains and recognized both PiL veterans and new organizations that came on board last year. The next campaign kicks off  April 27.  If you would like to join PiL and be at next year's celebration, contact Holly Fincke,  [email protected] .
At Startup@BerkeleyLaw's first Form+Fund workshop of the spring term, many alumni turned out to help advise entrepreneurs on the nuts and bolts of raising capital and issuing equity in the startup space. Special thanks to Matt Sonsini '92 (pictured at left with 3L Philip Wiseman) and his partners at Wilson Sonsini  Goodrich & Rosati and Jason Kwon '09 of Y Combinator for sharing their expertise with a packed house of eager founders and future startup lawyers.
