The Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice is pleased to announce the launch of its new podcast! Hosted by Director Savala Trepczynski '11, the series features conversations with people who, in their lives and work, are the change we need to see in the world. The first two episodes feature Professor Melissa Murray and the center's namesake, Judge Thelton E. Henderson '62.
A unique collaboration between lawyers and students at the East Bay Community Law Center's Education Advocacy Clinic and Youth Defender Clinic and local public defenders is m aking a meaningful impact at the intersection of education and juvenile justice. 
"Unrealistically onerous" GPS monitoring rules send California juvenile offenders into an incarceration cycle and disproportionately impact youth of color, according to a new report from the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic and the East Bay Community Law Center

23/7: Pelican Bay Prison and the Rise of Long-Term Solitary Confinement by Keramet Reiter JD '09, JSP '12 — This book describes how California’s Pelican Bay State Prison, where extreme conditions sparked a statewide hunger strike by 30,000 prisoners, was created without legislative oversight, in fearful response to 1970s radicals; how easily prisoners slip into solitary; and the mental havoc and social costs of years in isolation.
