Through Berkeley Law  New Business Practicum 's Central Valley Ventures initiative, students are steadily filling the void for legal services in one of the nation’s poorest regions through workshops, office hours, phone counseling, and online resources offered in Spanish.
Mei-Wah Lee and Zahraa Hadi spent nearly their entire time as law students helping San Quentin inmate Chris Deragon navigate the parole process. Just three weeks before graduation, their client was released after more than 22 years served.
