Extending the Table: Interdependence Day Picnic
Sunday, July 2, Noon,
Fellowship Hall

We begin our Independence Day celebrations by recognizing that as people of faith and citizens of the world we also celebrate our Interdependence! And the real joy is the opportunity to meet the newly appointed Assisting Pastor for Young Adult Ministries, Rev. Breanna Illéné. Breanna is the Pastor of Trinity UMC here in Madison, but she'll be working part time with First Church Young Adults in an appointment that begins July 1. Come and meet her and enjoy traditional picnic foods and fellowship on this holiday weekend.
Who Were Jesus' Neighbors?
Sunday, July 9, 10:15 a.m., Chapel
Artist Char DeVos and Rev. Dr. Mark Fowler, Presenters

Char DeVos and Pastor Fowler will discuss Char's original painting, "Lord's Supper, Revised" during the Christian Education hour on July 9. They will explore the scripture that prompted this representation of the Last Supper and Char's choices as she brought the piece into being.  Her work invites participation, as Char explains,  "Openness might be needed when viewing these works seeing that they are not meant to be pretty, decorative, or traditional, but rather, to stimulate conversation and have a memorable impression. I welcome comments, disagreements and affirmations. The viewer is crucial and is part of the process."  Come and join the discussion on July 9 and view other pieces of Char's art all month in the Chapel.

First Church Ministries Highlights

During worship we express our appreciation for the wide variety of critical ministries to which our friends and members give their gifts of time and energy as an offering to God. There are many ways we can give to God and serve our neighbors. Maybe you will be inspired!
