Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College Sponsors 2015 USHJA Hunterdon Cup

Lexington, KY----- March 18, 2015----- USHJA is pleased to announce Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2015 USHJA Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic, which takes place on July 6, 2015, at the U.S. Junior Hunter National Championships - East Coast in Devon, Pennsylvania.

"With a storied tradition of quality education in southwest Virginia, Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College combines the best of both worlds for the accomplished equestrians competing at this prestigious event; a national championship equine program within a nationally recognized educational institution."

 

Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College offers a premier four-year equine studies and competitive riding program, educating future horsemen and horsewomen who will contribute to the equine industry in many different capacities. The Equine Studies curriculum offers a broad range of courses in teaching, schooling, horse show/stable management, anatomy, first aid and equine nutrition.

Named in honor of George Morris and his farm, Hunterdon, the Hunterdon Cup brings together top equitation competitors from across the country to compete for the title riders can win only once. All competitors must have won a USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, or Overall WIHS Equitation Classic during the qualifying year. The three-round class combines the precision of equitation and handiness of hunters over a course of 10 hunter fences set at 3'6".

 

Last year, Caitlin Boyle, a 17-year-old from Hampshire, IL, took the Hunterdon Cup title, aboard Michaela Kennedy's 14-year-old Mecklenburg gelding, Loredo. Past winners have included Lillie Keenan, Genevieve Zock, Sarah Milliren, Catherine Tyree, Taylor Ann Adams, and many more. To view this year's qualified riders, click here.
