International Peace Day, September 21st, 2016
Building Peace Through Access to Education

"Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development."
~ Kofi Annan

The International Day of Peace is observed worldwide annually on 21 September. The General Assembly's declaration marks today "...as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples." The day's theme is "The Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace." The official U.N. ceremony and a global student videoconference was held on September 16th at U.N. Headquarters. The Education Outreach Section of the U.N. invited young people to submit videos on how the Sustainable Development Goals can build peace. Visit their YouTube channel below to view these:

Welcome New Students to Fall 2016!

We welcome our new and returning students to the IUGB Class of 2016! Our freshman class is very diverse this year. This class represents a portion of IUGB's total enrollment which features students representing 22 nations. We invite you to view this video and listen as our students, in their own words, talk about their hopes and challenges for the coming year. They have many interesting stories and will certainly have more at the end of this semester.

Atlanta Chapter Alumni and Friends Network (AFNET) Members add a personal greeting for our students:

"On behalf of IUGB AFNET, we would like to welcome you all to IUGB. It was a thrilling experience for us to be at IUGB and we hope that you will have the same experience as we did. We had fun, we made friends, but mostly we did leave an impact. Join an organization, make your voice heard, give your best in everything you do and study hard. Most of all, have fun! Once again, welcome to IUGB."

Please join us in congratulating them at the beginning of their educational journey. Post your note of encouragement on IUGB's Facebook page at:
