This September students will arrive on our campus to embark on a semester of growth, discovery and adventure at Steward Outdoor School .

Our first cohort includes students from North Carolina, Connecticut, New York, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. This thoughtful and bright group is prepared with academic curiosity, a thirst for adventure and a commitment to intentional community. After spending a semester at Steward, members of our first class will return to their public, private, parochial, and home schools prepared to think critically, communicate effectively, organize themselves independently, and be the leaders and stewards of tomorrow.

Steward offers the unique opportunity for high achieving middle school students to learn and live away from their regular school for a semester. Similar to existing high school semester schools, Steward fulfills and enhances required academic courses, allowing students to remain on-track academically. Our rigorous curriculum aligns with traditional coursework and particularly focuses on hands-on environmental science and ethics.

Students at Steward spend at least four weeks of each semester on outdoor adventure expeditions , including: hiking on the Appalachian Trail, adventuring in the white mountains, canoeing down the Connecticut River and biking along the Erie Canal. Learning how to live in intentional community with a focus on sustainable practices is at the core of our program.

Congratulations FS-1! We can't wait to welcome you to campus this fall.
