Hannah Evans DVM Meet the Newsest Addition to the VIoC Staff: Hannah Evans, DVM

Veterinarian Hannah Evans, DVM joined Veterinary Imaging of the Chesapeake in September 2016, where
she oversees anesthesia and the veterinary care of
VIoC's patients.

Dr. Evans grew up in Pasadena, Maryland, and is happy to be returning to the area after receiving her DVM at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville School of Veterinary Medicine and completing her internship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

"I fell in love with anesthesia at vet school when I was part of the Anesthesia Crew. I collaborated with other students and anesthesiologists to develop anesthetic protocols for each patient," she explains. "I got to pre-medicate, induce, and intubate 1-2 animals daily, and monitored their vitals while they were undergoing the procedure."  MORE>>

An Addition to Our Veterinary Care Staff

Monique_ vet tech Monique, Veterinary Technician
Monique is now becoming a familiar face at VNoC, having joined the staff in September. A native of Baltimore, she has a B.S. in Biology and Veterinary Terminology from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.

"I've always been interested in animals," says Monique, her enthusiasm bubbling over. "I spent four years as a emergency medicine tech and specialty surgery tech in Frederick, MD. When I worked in emergency, we sometimes referred the patient to neurology. so it's nice to see what happens here. I'm just loving the work, the staff and Dr. McDonnell. I also love helping people and the education I'm getting here."   MORE>

Rusty Rusty, A Happy Tail

For a young dog, Rusty has had more than his share of trials and tribulations.

Jerry, his owner, explains: "When Rusty was 4 or 5 months old, he fell off a utility vehicle in Montana and broke one of his back legs. The vets there put in a plate, and Rusty healed quickly-at least for a week and a half he did. Then he didn't want to walk or move, so we took him back to the vet who told us that sometimes dogs can get an embolism on the spine, but they're generally absorbed. He suggested doing an MRI, but the nearest place was 6 hours from us and couldn't be scheduled for 6 weeks. So we decided to bring him back to our home in Maryland."  MORE>>

Making the holidays warmer and brighter
For the second year in a row, VNoC employees have come together and adopted four residents through Catholic Charities of Baltimore, the city's largest overnight shelter. With everyone's donations, we were able to purchase complete winter outfits for all four residents to help make their Christmas a little warmer and brighter.
