The philosophy behind the Home Energy Group has always been that there is abusiness proposition to be made in building energy efficient homes. HEG works closely with their builders to analyze the most cost efficient way of achieving energy efficiency while understanding what consumers in the market are wanting in their homes. HEG also promotes the idea that the role of the Rater is not only to help the builders to build a better and more efficient home, but also assist them educating their employees, their subcontractors, and their sales and marketing people. By assisting builders to grow their market, it also grows the market for HERS Ratings. With the support of RESNET, HEG has been instrumental in the adoption of the HERS index as the predominantenergy efficiency indicator in South Carolina.
