Dear District III AMA Leader Member,
Today I am initiating something new for District III  and that is an electronic newsletter. As your AMA District III V.P. I feel it is important to establish an efficient communication channel so you will know the events that are going on in AMA. In today's internet driven, fast paced, social media world, an e-newsletter will help communicate the latest news and information concerning AMA and the members of District III in a timely manor. As a leader member your fellow club members look up to you and they know you are the "go to guy" in your club that can answer most questions. My intent is to email this communication at least once a month to keep you abreast of everything happening within AMA that could have an effect, both positive or negative, on our organization. I hope that you like this idea and if so I appreciate you allowing me to send this communication to you. Also, if you have any questions, comments, concerns or feedback please email me and I will do my best to address them.
The FAA NPRM
 Your Comments Are Needed!

On February 23, 2015, the FAA published its proposed regulations for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) as a notice of proposed rule making (NPRM). This began a 60-day period during which the public can comment on the proposed regulations. When finalized, the proposed rules would become the safety regulations for operating small, non-recreational, unmanned aircraft. It is important we engage our members to submit their comments concerning this proposed regulation. While AMA is satisfied with FAA's interruption of commercial and hobbyist sUAS it is important that we comment to the FAA the positive aspects of their proposed rules in regards to the AMA member. AMA is however concerned with FAA's  interruption of  "model aircraft" The NPRM references FAA's June 2014 interpretation of the Special Rule. The AMA has taken exception to several aspects of FAA's interpretation. To make it easier for our members to comment AMA has designed a template with suggested wording you can copy and paste into the NPRM web site. Please read this document, insert your comments and submit it to the FAA.  Unless extended, the deadline for submitting comments 11:59 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2015. Click Here to begin.
