Update from Marianne & Scott:
It is always nice to have a slower week every now and then. We enjoyed time with friends and family. Our hearts and prayers go out to all involved in the horrible tragedy that occurred in Downtown Savannah on Tues night. As we were celebrating our Independence, young irresponsible gang members took it upon themselves to hurt innocent people. It is time our community comes together to create change.
This week we are back in action! Starting on Mon evening at Savannah Smiles to see Ronald McDonald House's Bill Sorocheck & Katie Cleland for 30 years in the Coastal Empire! Tues morning off to see Regan Drake & David Pence at Small Business Chamber (SBC) Breakfast at Cohen's Retreat. Then to Savannah Area Chamber Of Commerce  lunch at Savannah Morning News to hear Paula Kreissler speak and see Susan Smith, Stephanie Painter, & Brooke Phillips. That evening we will be at Visit Savannah Tour & Travel Summer Social to see Mindy Shea and Chelsea Paulsen. Then off to the Savannah Wedding Vendors social at the Gingerbread house to see owner Jacob Thompson and that amazing Sarah Wright & of course Jamie Weaver, Tara Hart, Bruce Beaird and the fun gang! Wed afternoon looking forward to the Savannah Downtown Business Association (SDBA) with Karen Guinn, Barbara Rudy, & Suzanne Kirk Pretty excited about Girl Scouts Of Historic Georgia hosting the FIRST QuestFest starting on Thurs for the weekend! They still need volunteers! To sign up visit: http://gsquestfest.org
Thursday is also a landmark moment in Savannah's history with the
Grand Opening of Savannah's first LGBT Community Center on Bull Street, in the heart of downtown. Congratulations to Billy Wooten, Jamey Espin a, Karen Abato and entire team for all of their hard work in making this happen !
Come Sat we will be heading back down to our favorite local book store, E. Shaver to see the BEST local author, Mary Kay Andrews!!  ON Sunday morning we are honored to be helping Rev. George Lee III and the congregation of St John Baptist Church "The Mighty Fortress" celebrate 132 YEARS ! with the Ribbon Cutting at their new location.

A tribute to Scott Waldrup , One of the Great Guys. Scott was killed in a senseless tragedy on Tuesday evening, the Fourth of July. He is a Savannah HERO, he died saving the lives of others.    Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. Most folks in the service industry knew & loved Scott. There are so many great stories about a fine gentleman that served so many.
We hope this tragedy willl motivate our community to come together,  to stand up & make a difference. Until we ALL speak out, NOTHING will get done. We all want change.  Look at the generational poverty, check out the parents and unsupervised minors. When humans do not know any better they are going to repeat what they know. Street violence does not just happen overnight! Please stand up and fight for our rights. I hope the outrage does not stop with the beautiful memorial service for Scott. I hope that in Scott's memory we all stand united together and make a difference! Savannah is strong & beautiful, let's not let it be ruined by evil.

Plumbing Tip of the Week:

Know where the pipes are in your home!
We love hanging photos and frames all over... When you pound the nail into the wrong wall and punter a a drain, you will be crying!!
What to do: Buy a stud sensor that also detects pipes and wirings. You can also look around in the attic or the basement (if it's unfinished) to get a sense of where pipes are hiding. Finally, if the wall will be covered by whatever you're building or installing, you can always carefully cut a test hatch to find plumbing lurking in the walls.
Call Rooter Man to come out and check your pipes!!

Auto Tip of the Week:

Check Your Hands
Your seat is positioned properly when you can hang your wrists over the top of the steering wheel. And remember not to grip the wheel as you would a tennis racket, with your thumbs wrapped around so that they connect in back with your fingers. Instead, leave your thumbs on top of the wheel. Otherwise, in a collision, the wheel can whip back around and snap your thumbs.
