Invitation FameLab National Final - 21 April - Museum Boerhaave

Join us on Tuesday 21 April from 18.00 - 21.00 at Museum Boerhaave in Leiden for the FameLab National Final. Ten young scientists will compete to see who will be crowned the FameLab Netherlands champion!

FameLab aims to discover charismatic, up-and-coming scientists who inspire people to see the world from a new perspective... in just three minutes. Expect to hear anything from 'rethinking human nature' to 'molecular motors in action' at this inspiring event!

Our ten finalists were selected earlier this year in 4 heats across the country at Wageningen University, Leiden University, Radboud University/Radboud UMC and the University of Groningen. The lucky winner of FameLab Netherlands will travel to the UK in June to compete against finalists from over 25 countries around the world in the FameLab International Final, part of the Cheltenham Science Festival. NTR will hand out the NTR Audience Award to the Finalist who receives the highest number of votes from the audience.

Come and support our National Finalists at this exciting science communication contest. Contestants will have just three minutes to pitch a concept in science, technology, engineering, maths or medicine to our esteemed panel of judges including Sanne Deurloo, Editor-in-Chief at science website Kennislink.nl; Professor Dr Vanessa Evers, Full Professor of Human Media Interaction at the University of Twente; Professor Dr Jeroen Geurts, Professor in Translational Neurosciences, Head of the Department Anatomy and Neurosciences, VUMC and Pádraic Flood, Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne and winner FameLab Benelux and FameLab International 2014.

Presentations will be judged according to the golden rule of the 3Cs: Content, Clarity and Charisma.

The final will be hosted by Liesbeth Staats, NTR Presenter, De Kennis van Nu.
