Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!
The Lancaster Playhouse has officially opened the door to directors everywhere.

Inviting and targeting theater directors in Southeastern and Central Ohio to submit a play they wish to direct in the 2018-2019 or 2019-2020 upcoming seasons.

The Lancaster Playhouse is currently supporting a season of three plays that includes one musical. We are a community theater in rehearsal to complete our third season. Our last show was sold out for all three performances.

As a community theater we are not able to offer compensation for your services. We ask you to provide your expertise and time and we will provide the rest. We provide all licenses, scripts and everything necessary to put on a successful production.

So this is how it works…..

You suggest the story (the name of the play) and your vision (Director’s raison d'etre) or why you want to direct this particular play. Please include your bio with one copy of the script and any additional information necessary for us to review. For example, you wish to precast a particular role, or you are only available for consideration for the 2019-2020 season. We are not accepting original works at this time.

Our play reading committee will review the suggestions submitted and read the copy of each play submitted. We will review our performance space, schedule and the play’s required needs of lights, props, costumes, casting, musical abilities, etc. Of course, we will keep you informed every step of the way!

We have a 2018-2019 season deadline of June 1,2018 for submissions.

Bring your talents, your dream plays, your vision and become a part of the incredible story that The Lancaster Playhouse is creating!!!

Faithful readers, please share this request with anyone you feel may have an interest in this opportunity.

Technical Volunteers Needed
Glorious director Loran Peterson needs technical volunteers for this production.. those who have talents in light board and sound system use, preferably with theater in the area.  Please email your interest or questions to loranwpeterson@gmail.com

Peterson understands that not everyone wants to be an actor bathed in stage lights...but some volunteers may really want to be involved in a play production.  Four stage crew volunteers are needed to help with simple set moves between scenes. This is an opportunity to be involved and with no lines to memorize! And no experience necessary either. Send information to loranwpeterson@gmail.com asap....and you will be invited to a rehearsal this month!

Who was Florence Foster Jenkins?
Florence Foster Jenkins was much more than the recently released movie. This production of Glorious is considerably different from the movie you may be familiar with. Jenkins was a woman of passion who loved the arts and loved sharing her vocal talents (??) as well as underwriting the arts in New York City.

Really want to know who she was?
Check out this Youtube video and you will want to see more.

Was she the world’s worst singer or a "Glorious" performer?
