This month Irish Gathering is delighted to announce the launch of its online shop to promote Irish books, literature and artwork . https://www.irishgathering.ie/shop/Over the coming months we will be adding numerous Irish products to the shop. Where possible Irish Gathering has arranged discounts for members who may wish to purchase online.
This month we are promoting a series of books on how to trace your ancestors in various Irish counties. We are also promoting the famous Kenny's (of Galway) bookshop's ancient Irish maps and the work of numerous Irish artists. Thanks to the huge amount of member activity since January, Irish Gathering has already surpassed 5,500,000 hits in the first four months of 2011. Visitors to the Irish Gathering website in April surpassed 100,000 for 2011. With your continued support , this keeps us, on target for over 300,000 visitors in 2011!.
We wish to thank all members who told another family member or a friend about Irish Gathering during March and April. On St Patrick's Day we had our highest visitor numbers in one day this year with nearly 3,000 visitors signing on to view the site. Please keep up the good work and remember you are awarded points for all of your activity on the site including the Special Bonus points for telling your family and friends!. See later for Points for Prizes winners. We are delighted to welcome the 4,000 new members who have joined so far in 2011. We also thank our members who joined in 2010 and continue to build their own unique family history archives online. Remember, all members can share their research online with other registered family members in any part of the world - Invite your extended family to view your family tree online and share information on your own family history! If you are a new member you are now part of the Irish Gathering family and we need you to engage with us in promoting the return of the Irish Diaspora to Ireland. We at Irish Gathering intend to make 2012 to 2016 the Coming Home period for all our overseas members. Irish Gathering is currently organizing a unique event for April 2012 to commemorate the Titanic, we will have more on this over the coming monthly newsletters. All written words, pictures and documentation that you collect in your Irish Gathering family tree create a window for future generations to look into the past and celebrate their birthright and your history. Imagine if your Great Grandparents had been able to leave such a legacy to you! Your Irish Gathering Family Tree allows you to create your ancestry as far back as you can go and share it with the rest of your family across the globe.
Don't forget you can connect to other members by accessing the Members Directory section of the site. We now have nearly 8,000 registered members , an increase of 33% since our last newsletter. Please use the 'Tell a Friend' on the Irish Gathering Homepage to promote this free website. Every referral you generate gathers points for prizes for you personally. So build up your clan membership and see how far up the Irish Gathering's Clan League Table you can get your clan in May. The Irish gathering Clan of the Month for April 2011 is once again the Kelly clan.
