THE IRISH TIMES
Week of March 13-19

THURSDAY IS
IRISH GIVING DAY
#CC317
"MAKE A DATE TO DONATE"

On March 17, 2016 Camden Catholic will hold its second annual Irish Giving Day! For 24 hours, midnight to 11:59 p.m., we will accept donations for this campaign; all proceeds are tax deductible and will benefit the 2015 Annual Fund. Click here to be directed to the donation page.

We encourage our friends, alumni and parents to make a contribution on St. Patrick's Day in celebration of the legacy of Camden Catholic. Current students will have the opportunity to participate in festive fundraisers throughout the day as well, with all proceeds going toward the Irish Giving Day.

A generous alumnus has issued a special challenge to the graduating classes of 2006 through 2015: he will match, dollar for dollar, your collective online contributions on March 17, 2016, up to $5,000. That means any gift from those class years is doubled for the school; if you give $5 0, the school gets another $50 from our alumnus. What an incredible opportunity!

Attendance & Participation in Extracurricular Activities Reminder :  Students are expected to be on time for school.  Students arriving to school after 8:45 are required to present a note explaining the lateness. " If a student is absent from school or arrives after 8:45 am due to an unexcused lateness, he or she may not participate in any organized school activities that day or night.  If the absence occurs on a Friday, the student may be excluded from participation in school functions on the following Saturday as well.  Note:   Students sent home sick by the nurse are not allowed to return to school that day for any performance, athletic event or extracurricular activity (Student Handbook, 23)."

FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
All Juniors need a physical exam.  If your child doesn't have a current physical on file in the nurse's office, please call your doctor to schedule an appointment. Please return completed forms as soon as possible.

Spring sports physicals need to be returned to the nurse's office by  March 2nd.  No student is permitted to play a sport without a current physical on file with the nurse.

ACTION ALERT
T he issue of nonpublic school transportation is the top priority of our budget advocacy efforts at this time.  The per-pupil allotment for transportation has been frozen at $884.00 since 2008.  THIS MUST BE INCREASED in the next budget, or the future of many of our Catholic schools, who rely heavily on this transportation, will be in jeopardy.

We are told by those who work in the Governor's office that, at this stage, there is strength in numbers, and that the number of letters, emails, and phone calls made to the Governor's office does have a bearing on which issues get the greatest attention. Please review the below linked document and information sheet.  Let us all join with great enthusiasm in prayer and ACTION, so that 2016 may be the year in which the freeze on nonpublic transportation may be lifted.

THANK YOU!
